New Faculty Seminar and Research and Development Grant

In the New Faculty Seminar, faculty convene with the Associate Provost and Dean of Faculty and invited guests in a monthly session focused on topics geared toward experiences and needs of new faculty eligible for critical review. As a companion to the New Faculty Seminar, the New Faculty Research and Development grant is intended to support new faculty as they establish their teaching, research, professional and creative practice as a member of the RISD faculty.  Through a proposal process, $1,500 grants are available supported through the Surdna Faculty Development fund.

New Faculty Mentoring Program

This program partners new faculty eligible for critical review with an experienced faculty member from another department or division. This is an informal mentoring program, with mentoring teams meeting according to their mutual convenience. In addition Academic Affairs hosts a reception in early September for the new faculty and their mentors, and provides reimbursement for a lunch meeting between the mentor and new faculty member.
