Bergstein lecture and work published

Mary Bergstein (Professor, History of Art and Visual Culture) presented a lecture at the University of Heidelberg Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies on April 22. The topic of the conference was “An Interdisciplinary Anthropology of Perception and Imagination.” Bergstein spoke about “Perception and Imagination in the Visual World of Marcel Proust.”

Additionally, Bergstein’s memoir “Hotel Michelangelo” was published in vol. 43, no.6 of Afterimage: The Journal of Media Arts and Cultural Criticism.  Her article “Palmyra and Palmyra: Look On these Stones, Ye Mighty, and Despair,” appeared in Arion: A Journal of Humanities and the Classics  Fall 2016: 13-38.  Bergstein’s essay “Freud, Saturn, and the Power of Hypnosis,” was published in Photography and the Optical Unconscious eds. Shawn Michelle Smith and Sharon Sliwinski, (Duke University Press 2017), 104-133.
