Rebola and Cannon Organize IDSA NE Conference at RISD

Claudia Rebola (Associate Professor, Industrial Design) and Charlie Cannon (Department Head and Associate Professor, Industrial Design)  co-organized the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) Northeast District Design Conferencewhich was held at the Rhode Island School of Design last week. The conference was also organized with Ayse Birsel who is the Northeast District VP on the IDSA Board of Directors and Co-founder of the firm Birsel + Seck.

The conference was entitled, The Unexpected Conference, and featured an extensive program, with top Northeast designers and leaders, including Matt Wade, Director, Google Creative Lab, Nick Scappaticci, CEO of Tellart, Hannah Chung, creator of Jerry the Bear, Kelly Ramirez, CEO Social Enterprise Greenhouse among others. The conference provided an agile, interactive, and creative presentation of panelists and custom Q&A tools for generating “unexpected” questions. The conference also featured workshops led by Google Creative Lab, Sesame Workshop, J&J, and Ximedica, paired by two unrelated companies to provide a platform for unexpected outcomes.
