Gizycki Receives Award for Outstanding Contribution to Animation

Marcin Gizycki (Senior Lecturer, History of Art + Visual Culture) is the recipient of the Award for the Outstanding Contribution to Animation Studies at Animafest, the World Festival of Animated Film in Zagreb Croatia held on the 6th to 11th June 2016.

His film “STO[NE]S” is a play on the English word ‘Stones’ which contains two Polish words ‘sto’ meaning one hundred and and ‘stos’ meaning pile. Thus, a pile of stones was used to create this abstract expression of moving stripes and circles. The music which accompanies the film was composed by Compagnia d’Arte Drummatica.
