Artisan-Toolmaker panel discussion

Faculty members John Caserta, Kai Franz and Andrew Raftery will by joined by guest Luke Ogrydziak in a panel discussion moderated by faculty members Aaron Forrest and Carl Lostritto. A corresponding exhibit will also include work by the panelists and Elliot Clapp and Shane Richards (Division of Foundation Studies). This is to be the first of three events that constitute the “tool()” forum, conceived by faculty member Joy Ko. More into about the forum can be found at

The “tool()” forum takes stock of a range and combination of tools – traditional and novel, analog and digital – which meaningfully engage the creative minds of today. This event will convene a wide audience including practitioners pushing the frontier of current modes of artistic and design production, students and academics who integrate learning and teaching with toolmaking, and industry players who are developing these tools of trade for widespread use. The “tool()” forum is an opportunity to understand the evolving dynamic between increasingly powerful tools and the empowerment of artists and designers.
