Printmaking self-study and advisory panel visit

The Printmaking Self-Study and Advisory Panel Visit will take place on November 10-12, 2014, with committee members: Carmon Colangelo, Dean, E. Desmond Lee Professor of Art, Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts, Washington University of St. Louis; Melissa Brown, Associate Professor in Studio Arts, Lehman College, CUNY; Michael Krueger, Associate Professor of Art, University of Kansas; and Jimin Lee, Professor, University of California, Santa Cruz.

The Board of Trustees has established a program of departmental self-studies and visiting committees to help maintain academic programs at RISD, facilitate their ongoing development, and ensure their high quality.

Every five to seven years, each academic department generates a self-study and helps to identify external panelists whom we welcome to campus.

During their visit, the panelists meet members of the department, visit studios, and see exhibitions of student and faculty work. Through additional discussions, the visitors assess the relationship of the department with other entities at RISD, as well as constituencies and opportunities beyond the institution. After their visit, the panelists provide a report on their observations and recommendations.

The department considers this feedback in generating a planning document that projects future resourcing and program development.

The Board of Trustees considers all of these materials in discussing strengths, weaknesses, and needs of an academic unit as they relate to goals, faculty, students, curriculum, and facilities.
