Baker’s cabinet of curiosities
During Jan Baker’s (Professor, Graphic Design) sabbatical year, she has formed a cabinet of curiosities style installation:
INDIA. VIETNAM. JAPAN.
Each of these artifacts she collected encompasses stories and memories of travel exploration and extraordinary artistic discoveries. The collections are an ongoing inspiration for her art + design work. She hopes that this exhibition will encourage each of you to pursue your own passions, creativity and travel dreams.
The installation is located in the RISD Design Center, first floor cases (across from the mail room). The exhibition will run until Sunday, October 12.
Also view Baker’s “text-tiles” at RISD/WORKS, where you can view some of her (very limited edition) textiles, printed in india, from notes she takes at RISD lectures.
