Join Scanlan and Unwin-Barkley “Re-Imagining Cities”

Please join Suzanne Scanlan (Lecturer, HAVC) and Pamela Unwin-Barkley (Critic, Foundation Studies) for the new RISD student installation for the community room at Adelante Housing. The installation is the outcome of their collaborative studio and liberal arts course (Re-Imagining Cities) examining the changing image of Providence.

Adelante Apartments is owned and operated by Woman’s Development Corporation, a nonprofit housing provider based in Providence. The Adelante Housing is a turn-of-the-century schoolhouse that has been converted into 53 affordable units for elderly residents. The students in this course worked with the Adelante residents to record their individual stories and memories for a mural depicting a shared vision of a re-imagined Providence. This installation is the product of their collaboration.

Light refreshments will be served.
