Coolidge “Delicate Armour” at Newport Art Museum

An exhibition of work by Deborah Coolidge (Senior Critic, Foundation Studies) opens this week at the Newport Art Museum, Newport, R.I.

The exhibition, “Delicate Armour: Works on Paper by Deborah Coolidge,” represents a collection of drawings from different trees, showing a range of light and dark marks, patterns, age and species. “Wrapping paper around their bodies, I begin with graphite,” writes Coolidge. “Subtle texture emerges as calligraphic ┬ánotations. Later, I begin to flesh out by enhancing or erasing, summoning the complete story.”

The exhibition will be accompanied by a Gallery Talk on February 23, 2014.
