RISD Faculty Fellowship Opportunity – July 15 2013 Deadline

The Academic Commons Program (acp.risd.edu) is wrapping up its first season of grant-funded projects exploring integrative undergraduate teaching and learning.

Research summaries from each of the project leaders will be posted on our website later this summer. We hope you’ll find the project research—on critique, writing, student-made materials, senior written thesis, and movement—informative, provocative, and generative in your own teaching practice. You’ll also find descriptions of upcoming fall projects—on mapping, science, writing, and voting in the context of art and design—that you might be interested in participating in.

More immediately, we are writing to let you know that two ACP faculty fellowships are available for this fall. The extended deadline for proposals is July 15, and we hope that summer offers you a chance to imagine what you might do with an ACP fellowship. All of our spring ACP recipients commented on how valuable it was for them to have the time and opportunity to focus on research they’d long been hoping to start or deepen.

ACP Fellowships are available to FT faculty and PT faculty on multi-year contracts. They provide course release for research and practice around integrative topics and approaches. See our website for more on the definition and scope of “integrative” work and guidelines for proposals.

Please note that all applicants must discuss proposals with their Department Head, who must approve course release for ACP fellowships. And please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss your ideas and proposals in advance of submitting.

Thank you,

Patti Phillips and Jennifer Liese
