Intercultural Student Engagement mentoring program
Intercultural Student Engagement is proud to announce the success of the RISD | ISE Mentoring Program that just completed its pilot year in February 2013! The program ultimately served 29 student mentees and all but one student achieved cumulative GPAs of a B or above by the completion of the program. Some of the students came to us with significant academic challenges before them and this result is truly a testament to our program which owes its success to those who graciously volunteer to serve as a mentor.
ISE is currently seeking faculty, staff and alumni mentors to serve for the 2013-14 cohort of students. The programs runs from September – February with limited online communication during the month of August. To learn more about the program and what it means to serve as a mentor, please visit our website. If you are interested in being a mentor to one of our mentees, please complete the application form, which can be found here.
Mentoring is a fun and rewarding experience and we hope that you will consider this opportunity that makes a huge impact in the successful transition to college for one of our students. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Christopher Lauth, Diversity Coordinator! For full consideration for the 2013-14 program, please be sure to fill out your application by June 1, 2013. Mentors are notified first of any potential pairings – upon your acceptance of the match, students will be notified August 1, 2013.
Thanks for your careful consideration and we wish you a Happy Summer!
