2013 TEDMED Features Illustration Department Portraits

TEDMED is a multi-disciplinary community of innovators and leaders who share a common determination to create a better future in health and medicine. Once a year at The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, TEDMED curates an unusual and provocative program on the Opera House stage. The 3 ½ day program features brilliant short talks and stunning artistic performances that celebrate the power of unexpected connections to create important new possibilities.

The 2013 TEDMED, April 16-19, will include 57 portraits, produced by 29 students and four faculty. The students and faculty finished the illustrations with only a week to pitch the ideas and finish the portraits. Robert Brinkerhoff (Professor & Department Head, Illustration) describes it as “an energetic and well organized collaboration.” The portraits will be seen in a variety of contexts, including the printed program, advertisements, 3 x 6 foot banners displayed at the Kennedy Center, and as projections on stage.
