Whistleblower Policy

RISD is committed to operating lawfully, ethically, and professionally in everything it does and accordingly expects its faculty, staff, and students to act in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations, college policies and procedures, and high ethical standards.  When we fail to meet these standards, we want to address and correct it.

Ordinarily, the best and most effective means of addressing such failures is through normal lines of communication.  Anyone who believes that a RISD employee or student has engaged in illegal or unethical conduct may – and should – report that belief to his or her supervisor and/or any of the following: the President, the Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration, the Vice President for Human Resources, the General Counsel, the Director of Risk and Compliance, the Controller, or the college official with oversight responsibility for the relevant issue.

We also recognize that people with knowledge of illegal or unethical conduct may sometimes be reluctant to come forward.  Accordingly, like many other colleges and universities, RISD has contracted with “EthicsPoint” to provide a simple way to make such reports anonymously and confidentially.

You can learn more about EthicsPoint at the following links, and you can find the EthicsPoint tool itself here.
