Marcin Gizycki speaks at Yale conference, shows at festivals and more
Marcin Gizycki (Senior Lecturer, HAVC) spoke about the work of Jan Lenica at Yale University’s conference “100 YEARS OF FILM ANIMATION: POLISH AND RUSSIAN ANIMATION”, OCTOBER 19-20, 2012. The conference was presented by the Council on European Studies, with a Title VI National Resource Center grant from the US Dept. of Education and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Warsaw, Poland. The conference also screened “The Bug Trainer’ a documentary about Władysław Starewicz and the beginnings of film animation by Linas Augutis with the Brothers Quay and Marcin Giżycki which was made in 2008. Gizycki also led a panel discussion titled “Marcin Giżycki, Rhode Island School of Design: In the Labyrinth of Polish Animation.”
Gizycki recently gave a lecture at the University of Cinema Studies in St. Petersburg, Russia on Polish experimental animation and prepared two Polish animation programs for their international Message to Man Festival. His film “Kinefaktura” was in the competition at St. Petersburg and has been selected for the International Experimental Film Festival KLEX in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to take place in November 2012 and the International Animation Film Festival ANIMATEKA in Ljubljana, Slovenia to take place in December 2012.
