John Terry: Ethnographic Filming in Carriacou, Grenada
In July John Terry (Professor, Film/Animation/Video) filmed and recorded sound for the Association for Cultural Equity. The A.C.E was founded by Alan Lomax to explore and preserve the world’s expressive traditions with humanistic commitment and scientific engagement. This summer’s documentation recorded the Big Drum Nation drumming and dancing, accompanying the Tombstone Feast for the famous dancer Lucien Duncan. Duncan was known for transmitting Carrion Big Drum Nation Dance culture to Europe, especially to England where she performed before the queen.
