Susan Ward presents at annual medieval meetings in Kalamazoo
Susan Ward (Professor, History of Art and Visual Culture) is a member of the Medieval Sculpture Working Group, a transatlantic collaboration of medieval scholars on both sides of “the puddle”. Over the course of 2012, the Working Group is bringing together scholars and students at three conferences and museum study-days held in Paris, Kalamazoo (MI), and Philadelphia. The conferences will provide a platform for discussion and debate on methodologies and approaches particular to the study of sculpture. As part of the Working Group initiative Ward presented the second of three related papers–“Saint-Martin Statue Columns: Sign of the Gothic” at the Medieval Institute’s Annual Conference in May. In January she presented the first of the series at the Institut national d’histoire de l’art in Paris and will present the third in this series of papers in Philadelphia at the Museum of Art & University of Pennsylvania in the Fall.
