Rogowski's work on view in "Role Model Play Time" and "Contents…"
The work of Kent Rogowski (Critic, Photography) will be seen at the David Winton Bell Gallery at Brown in “Role Model Play Time” a group show also featuring work by Hannah Barrett, Caleb Cole, Jane Maxwell, Randy Regier, and TRIIIBE and curated by Ian Alden Russell. “Representing photography, collage, sculpture, and painting, the works shown here share a sense of “serious play” with the modes, methods, materials, and processes of forming, inheriting, and expressing personal and social identities. They offer a reminder to children of all ages that identity is not fixed or inherited but made and maintained, and despite the differences and, at times, discord of our many senses of self, we share something in common in the way we enjoy the creative possibilities of becoming human.” Click here to read more about the show.
Rogowski’s traveling exhibition “Contents: Love, Anxiety, Happiness and Everything Else Critical Mass 2011” is on view May 10, 2012 – June 15, 2012 at the Rayko Photo Center in San Francisco. The show was previously at PhotoCenter NW, Seattle, WA and Newspace Center for Photography, Portland, OR.
Rogowski recently spoke at the TEDxCooperUnion 2012 event dedicated to the theme “Found in Translation” on the intersections between engineering, art, architecture and the humanities.
