Driscoll's students reimagining Kennedy Plaza
Ellen Driscoll’s (Professor, Sculpture) Spring 2012 course “Spokes of the Wheel: Public Art in Kennedy Plaza” which is devoted to the revitalization of the heart of Providence, was recently written up in the Providence Phoenix. Driscoll’s students presented their initial ideas to city officials at the Office of Art, Culture + Tourism this past week. The students hail from various departments on campus and the projects proposed reflect that disciplinary diversity. The RISD class is but one part of a broader effort to bring art to Kennedy Plaza, an effort funded by a $200,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
