Swarovski – RISD partnered studio exhibit
“We add sparkle to people’s everyday lives” is the mission statement of the Swarovski crystal company, and in the partnered Wintersession studio course led by Painting Professor Mary Jones, students from diverse majors expanded that concept with their own interpretations. The full range of Swarovski products was made available to the students, including crystals, jewels, figurines, and appliqué. Visiting artist lectures and workshops with Rashaad Newsome, Heather Rowe, and Alyson Shotz began the challenge, which ended last week in a final critique of the artwork. The pieces are being exhibited in March at the Swarovski headquarters in Cranston.
The Swarovski – RISD partnered studio exhibit will be open for two weeks to RISD staff, faculty, alum, and students from March 12 -23 between 9 am and 5 pm. The address is Swarovski headquarters in Cranston, 1 Kenney Drive, Cranston, RI. It’s a great show and worth the visit.
