Broholm and Cavicchi to speak on Witness Tree Project
Dale Broholm (Senior Critic, Furniture) and Dan Cavicchi (Assc. Professor, HPSS) will speak at the upcoming Organization of American Historians Annual Conference on the Witness Tree Project. The Project, now in its third year, features a collaboration with the National Parks Service to use the wood from “witness trees”, those of such longevity that they have witnessed the sweep of human history which hail from National Historic sites. The site of origin of each tree provides the jumping off place for deep study of material culture, historical events, design, etc. The current iteration of Witness Tree is focused on the homestead of Fredrick Law Olmstead, the great landscape architect who transformed the U.S.’s city scapes.
