Faculty discussion of the Strategic Plan
On November 30th from 6:30 -8 faculty were invited to the Metcalf Auditorium to discuss their questions and reactions to the Strategic Plan presented last week. The Deans, Associate Provost and Provost described their development of the final plan content. Additionally, they detailed the working process, including integrating the work of the Strategic Planning Working Group (SPWG) that consisted of that academic leadership group plus 3 faculty representatives from the Steering Committee (Mairead Byrne, Ken Horii and Fritz Drury) and one alternate (Todd Moore). Additionally, President Maeda was part of the SPWG and participated in all of the meetings. About 40 faculty were in attendance at this session, and there were many good questions that helped to clarify how the plan might positively impact the next five years of RISD’s future. Jean Eddy and Bill Decatur also spoke at the information session, answering questions that their expertise could help to inform.
