Third Biennial Design Science Symposium + EXPspace
The Edna Lawrence Nature Lab and The Synergetics Collaborative will present the Third Biennial Design Science Symposium at RISD on 11-13 November 2011, at Metcalf Auditorium in the Chace Center. Inspired by the ideas of visionary designer R. Buckminster Fuller, this event will be a meeting of educators, makers and thinkers with presentations and hands-on workshops on topics ranging from sustainability, to design education, to visualizing and modeling the structure of space.
Keynote speakers will include international management consultant and founder of the Sustainability Laboratory Michael Ben-Eli and high performance design expert Peter Jon Pearce.
Please join us as we explore design, Nature, problem-solving, and understanding how our world can be made to work for 100% of humanity.
The Symposium is free for RISD students and faculty but they must register either on-line or in person at the Nature Lab. See the announcement at expspace.risd.edu. (Pronounced “E-X-P-space”). EXPspace is the web-based research platform developed from RISD’s NSF EPSCoR grant to connect artists, designers, and scientists to shared research interests, ongoing work, and collaboration opportunities. EXPspace includes published papers, exhibition opportunities, process documentation, event listings and more.
