"Art and Healing: the Intersection of Practice" Symposium & Exhibit
For the past ten years, RISD and Brown students working under the direciton of Melinda Bridgman, Critic, Fine Arts, have intervened in the lives of patients at Bradley Hospital as a part of RISD’s course, “Art as a Source of Healing”. By bringing together creative and medical practitioners, the process of healing has been redefined as creative and collaborative, generating beautiful art alongside meaningful relationships.
The “Art and Healing: the Intersection of Practice Symposium” scheduled to take place on Friday, February 25
10:00am-2:30pm, at Brown RISD Hillel (80 Brown Street), will explore the intersections of the artistic and medical worlds, along with the lasting effect that the healing arts can have on patients and facilitators. Brown and RISD alumni, professional practitioners, and keynote presenter Lily Yeh will give various perspectives on integrating the two fields into one’s work, life, and practice.
Please also stop by the Special Viewing of the paralell Exhibit, Thursday, February 24 from 6:00-8:00pm, Carr Haus (210 Benefit Street). The exhibit will showcase works inspired by RISD’s course, “Art as a Source of Healing.” The exhibit will run February 21-25th. Carr Haus is open Mon-Thurs 8:30am-12am and Friday 8:30am-9pm.
