Jackie Hoving at Rebekah Templeton Contemporary Art

Rebekah Templeton Contemporary Art will present “Crypsis”, an exhibition of installation and mixed media collage by Jackie Hoving (Critic, Foundation Studies). Crypsis is the ability of an organism to avoid observation. Hoving’s work incorporates painting, printmaking, and collage to conceal and reveal images and weave a camouflaged, non-linear narrative.  In her installation, Hoving analyzes the hunt and childhood memories of growing up in rural Michigan where hunting was prevalent. The artwork is less a celebration of the natural world, than an analysis of the circumstances between the hunt and the landscape and animals that are unwilling participants.
