Marcin Gizycki and the International Festival of Animated Film and more

The 3rd International Festival of Animated Film “ANIMATOR” in Poznan, Poland, of which Marcin Gizycki (Senior Lecturer, History of Visual Art and Cultre) is the Artistic Director, took place this July 12-17. The international jury included George Griffin (New York), Brigitta Ivanyi-Bitter (Hungary), Nancy Denney-Phelps (Belgium), Dennis Tupicoff (Australia), and Mariusz Wilczynski (Poland). Gizycki authored essays that appear in two books published in conjunction with the Era New Horizons Film Festival in Wroclaw, Poland: “The Thirteenth Month: The Cinema of the Quay Brothers” and “Story of Sin: Surrealism in Polish Cinema”.  The latter is a bi-lingual publication in which every text is featured in Polish and English. Gizycki’s short film “Aquatura” was also presented in the competition of short films at the same festival.
