Welcome Letter for New Students Attending RISD in Fall 2010
June 23, 2010
Dear Incoming Student
On behalf of the division of Student Affairs and Foundation Studies, I would like to congratulate you on your admission to RISD. You are joining a community of the most creative young people in the world! We are very pleased that you have chosen RISD as the place to further your education.
In great anticipation of your start at RISD you will find important informational items to complete prior to your arrival on campus. Our goal is to introduce you and your family to RISD and provide a smooth transition into our campus community.
In the coming weeks, you will receive important information by mail and in electronic form. Some highlights include, a letter from the Dean of Foundation Studies with a sketch book, information about student life and leadership opportunities at RISD, as well as an electronic download of “Museum Legs” a book by Amy Whitaker. The Orientation website (www.risd.edu/orientation) should be your source for updated information and schedules. Please check it often!
There are four important items that require special attention. All can be found on the Orientation website under “Forms and Mailings”:
The Health Form is to be completed and returned by July 15, 2010. Rhode Island State Law requires immunizations for all full-time students. You will not be able to attend classes until a completed health form is on file.
- The Disability Accommodations form from the Student Development and Counseling Office at RISD. If you received accommodations for a disability during high school, please read this information carefully.
- The Campus ID Card form should be completed by August 15, 2010 in order to receive your ID at check-in on September 11th.
- The FERPA release can be completed by the student and will allow RISD to share information about the student on an as-needed basis.
We believe that your participation and involvement will greatly ease your passage into the RISD community. We are thrilled at your acceptance and are looking forward to welcoming you into our diverse population. Please contact us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 401.454.6600 if you have any questions.
