Thomas Ockerse: Professor, Graphic Design
“As one of the pillars of the Graphic Design Department, Thomas represents the highest goals of a RISD education in his teaching: he motivates and empowers his students to learn to learn for a lifetime as designers and thinkers. With a philosopher’s mind and a poet’s expression, Thomas cultivates a learning environment that is transformative, life changing even. His dedication to RISD is recognized by more than forty years of teaching in the Graphic Design Department, inspiring each student to rigorous innovative approaches in design.”


Jennifer Joy: Lecturer, Sculpture
“Deeply invested in her artistic practice, Jennifer brings extensive knowledge of contemporary art and theory to RISD. She is a nimble critic admired by peers and students for her intellect and the deftness of her critical thinking. Her cross-disciplinary approach fosters insight, innovation, and intellectual rigor. Expansive and inspiring in her teaching, Jennifer embraces various learning styles and promotes her students’ success.”
