Student Affairs headed by the Dean of Student Affairs, provides a combination of academic and non-academic services in support of RISD’s educational mission. Student Affairs consists of the the Dean’s office, Health Services, Intercultural Student Involvement, Counseling and Psychological Services, Office of International Student Services, Residence Life, and Center for Student Involvement. The Dean’s office offers day-to-day advocacy and assistance to students, and serves as a resource for problem solving and mediation of issues involving academic policies. The Office manages the implementation and interpretation of the Student Code of Conduct and all discipline procedures and outcomes.

New Student Orientation
The Student Affairs Division offers an orientation for all new students and families immediately preceding the start of the Fall semester. Residence hall move-in takes place on the Saturday before the start of classes. The orientation program includes general and break-out sessions led by a trained group of orientation leaders and supported by the staff of the college designed to assist all students to become part of the RISD community.
