As a part of the President’s SEI initiative, Academic Affairs is pleased to provide funds in the form of summer stipends to support faculty efforts to revise current course offerings to be more inclusive of diverse perspectives and voices. Applications related to required courses are encouraged: consultation with the department head and Curriculum Committee review in Fall 2018 will be part of the follow-up process.
Who is eligible?
All full-time faculty and part-time faculty teaching in Academic Year 2018-19.
Summer stipend amount: $2500
1. Submit course description and syllabus of an existing course you plan to revise
2. Submit a 1-page rationale for selecting this course for revision and a description of your
goals for the course revision
3. Department Head letter of support
4. Submit all materials as attachments to a single email to firstname.lastname@example.org by the
Deadline: March 19th
Proposals will be reviewed by the Deans Council.
Attendance at a May workshop to support the development of revised syllabi.
Submission of revised syllabus and description to the Provost by September 15, 2018; one page report revisiting the rationale and how it may have evolved during the process.
For required courses: appearance at the Curriculum Committee meeting to discuss the changes and your rationale.
