Today, Donald Trump promises investment in infrastructure, China continues to urbanize, global cities sit next to slums and the arts are seen as industries. Alongside this media representations of urban life continue to stigmatize and idealize in equal measure. To understand the way we perceive life in cities, towns and communities today requires what Jane Rendell calls ‘critical spatial practice’ – critique from different disciplines
The arts, cultural studies, social sciences and the design sector – architecture, landscape design.
The conference will lead to journal articles with Architecture_MPS, a proceedings publication with its own ISSN and book publications as part of PARADE.
