Cabell’s Morbid Symptoms on Shifting Ground
Mimi Cabell (Assistant Professor, Experimental + Foundation Studies) new collaborative work, Morbid Symptoms: Interregnum and Loops of Authority in the Muqata’as, will be presented at Shifting Ground, the third of four Sharjah Biennial 13: Tamawuj off-site projects. The symposium and book launch was held at the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center in Ramallah, West Bank.
Morbid Symptoms is a project that attempts to trace the literal and symbolic histories of the Muqata’as, police forts built by the British in Israel and Palestine as part of their colonial program. The project is an archaeology of the different historical trajectories the forts have faced, and an attempt to understand what keeps together their heterogeneity.
