Provost Sharma is delighted to announce that Scheri Fultineer will be Dean of Architecture + Design, and Robert Brinkerhoff will be the Dean of Fine Arts from 1st July 2017.
Dean, Architecture + Design
Many of you will know of Scheri as the Department Head of Landscape Architecture, where she has developed a unique programmatic focus on ecology, culture and systems, radically changed the curriculum, and tripled student while steering the department through a successful LAAB accreditation. What you may not know is that Scheri is a practicing landscape architect, has a BA in drawing and printmaking from Antioch College and a masters in theological studies from Harvard Divinity School, as well as a masters in landscape architecture from Harvard Graduate School of Design. She brings a wealth of experience, compassion, humour, and oysters, as well as passion to the role.
Dean, Fine Arts
Robert has taken up many roles at RISD, including Department Head of Illustration, Division-based Advising Coordinator, and Chair of the Faculty Steering Committee. He has an active studio practice, teaches around the world, and was a key instigator of the Illustrator as Public Intellectual research symposium at RISD. Born in Okinawa, Japan, he has a BFA and MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. He was instrumental in the success of the renovation of the Illustration Studies Building and brings a wealth of experience, thoughtfulness, and enthusiasm to the role.
Please join me in congratulating Scheri and Robert; I look forward to working with them in their new leadership roles.
I also want to thank Nancy Skolos and Sheri Wills for their hard work and leadership over the past several years. Nancy will be heading to a long deserved and deferred sabbatical, and Sheri will be joining the Department of Film|Animation|Video.
