What: Each year, the National Book Foundation recognizes individuals and institutions that have developed innovative means of creating and sustaining a lifelong love of reading. In addition to promoting the best of American literature through the National Book Awards, the foundation seeks to expand the audience for literature in America.
When: Applications are due by the end of the day on February 28, 2017.
How much: The winner will receive $10,000 and be featured prominently on the foundation’s website and in other digital publicity.
What: Through its Furthermore program, the J.M. Kaplan Fund supports nonfiction book publishing about the urban experience; natural and historic resources; art, architecture, and design; cultural history; and civil liberties and other public issues.
When: Applications are due March 1, 2017.
How much: Individual grants range from $1,500 to approximately $15,000 and may be used to support writing, research, editing, design, indexing, photography, illustration, and/or printing and binding.
What: Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) recognizes the invaluable role that Rhode Island’s non-profit organizations play in creating a vibrant and inclusive place to live. RISCA aims to strengthen and sustain this sector through our grants and services to organizations, helping to ensure a lasting creative community for all Rhode Islanders.
