Esther Thyssen Lectures on American Landscape Painting

Esther Thyssen (Assistant Professor, History of Art + Visual Culture) participated in the International and Interdisciplinary Conference on Romanticism and the Peripheries, hosted at the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, Portugal on 5th to 7th December, 2016.

The conference was organized by the Institutio de Historia da Arte, FCSH/NOVA Lisbon, and Palacio Nacional da Pena/Parques de Sintra. Dr Thyssen lectured on The Discourse of American Romanticism: Landscapes of the West by Albert Bierstadt. The conference explored various concepts of periphery and the persistence of romanticism.
