White Gives Keynote at Harvard Graduate School of Design

Damian White (Associate Professor, History, Philosophy + the Social Sciences) gave the keynote lecture at the Harvard Graduate School Doctoral Program Conference Bound and Unbound: The Sites of Utopia on 15th April 2016.

His lecture was entitled Urban Public Ecologies, Democratic Invention and Creative Labor: Design-Futuring in the Anthropocene. It provided an overview of hegemonic discourses shaping the contemporary politics of the anthropocene, the challenges and opportunities ‘anthropocene times’ opened up for sustainable design futuring and it argued for a reconfigured engagement between critical design and the critical social sciences centered around the concepts of public ecologies, plural ecological modernities and an acknowledgement of the potential creativity of labor.
