“Jesse Burke: Wild & Precious” opens at the RISD Museum on Thursday evening, January 21, 2016. The exhibition is on view through September 25.
Encompassing landscape, portraiture and still-life photography, “Wild & Precious” presents photographs Jesse Burke (RISD MFA 2005, Photography; Critic, Photography) made over the past five years while traveling across the United States and around his native New England with his daughter, Clover. Through images depicting Clover’s encounters with diverse landscapes and wildlife, Burke provides a tender meditation on nature, childhood, and parental love.
The exhibition celebrates the release of Burke’s book, also titled “Wild & Precious,” and a gift of artwork from the series to the RISD Museum.
Support for “Jesse Burke: Wild & Precious” is provided in part by a grant from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, through an appropriation by the Rhode Island General Assembly and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
