Hirst and Van den Eijnde Awarded Andrew W. Mellon Faculty Fellowships for 2016/2018

RISD Academic Affairs is pleased to announce that Leslie Hirst (Associate Professor, Experimental and Foundation Studies) has been awarded the Andrew W. Mellon Faculty Fellowship for 2016/2018 in the Department of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs and  Gwen van den Eijnde (Assistant Professor, Apparel Design) has been awarded the Andrew W. Mellon Faculty Fellowship for 2016/2018 in the Department of Costumes and Textiles.

The Mellon Faculty Fellowships are designed to engage faculty members from across disciplines in teaching, research, and public engagement through the RISD Museum’s collection. During the two-year appointment, the Andrew W. Mellon Faculty Fellows will be resident in their curatorial department, with the expectation of learning the collection through leading object-based class sessions and conducting research related to the collection and his or her area of expertise. Fellows will collaborate with curators and faculty to select objects for class visits, present collection pieces to visiting classes, and facilitate learning by students, faculty members, and members of the visiting public.
