RISD Global: Summer Programs – 2015 Call for Courses

Dear Faculty,

In the summer of 2014, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) offered a select number of international summer course offerings. The courses were organized in two ways:

1. Through individual departments. For example, Interior Architecture held a six-week summer program at Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS) in Copenhagen and Furniture coordinated a four-week program, also through DIS in Copenhagen.

2. The Division of Continuing Education and Office of Global Partners and Programs collaborated with part-time faculty member, Nicola De Pace on “Mapping Foundations: An Uncanny Exploration of Rome + Its Environs,” at RISD’s site in Rome.

Both courses were highly successful, thanks to the great efforts of the faculty and a number of offices on campus and our site in Rome. Moving forward, we recognize the need to create a transparent and consistent summer course proposal system for international offerings through the Division of Continuing Education in collaboration with RISD’s Global office. This will allow faculty to actively propose off-campus global learning courses during the summer.

In doing so, we can offer an array of highly thoughtful, RISD-specific global summer programs, which can engage RISD degree students, as well as external audiences.

Faculty are invited to submit a course proposal to be offered through the Division of Continuing Education in collaboration with RISD Global for summer 2015.

To submit a proposal please:

1) Complete the online RISD Global: Summer Programs Course Proposal form.

2) Complete the RISD Global- Summer Programs Course Proposal Budget -2015 form and send via email to gpp@risd.edu.

Proposals must be submitted no later than Monday, December 15, 2014. Incomplete proposals will not be considered.

Any questions should be directed to gpp@risd.edu.
