A film by Ann Fessler (Professor, Photography), “Along the Pale Blue River,” is on exhibition as part of the “Home Truths: Photography and Motherhood” exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago (April 18–July 13, 2014).
Curated by Susan Bright, the exhibition includes the work of Janine Antoni, Elinor Carucci, Tierney Gearon, Elina Brotherus, Ana Casas Broda, Fred Huning, Katie Murray, and Hanna Putz. The exhibition aims to challenge long-held stereotypes and sentimental views of motherhood by addressing issues such as gender roles, domesticity, the body and the identity of individuals within the family unit.
On May 1, in connection with the exhibition, Fessler will screen her recent film A GIRL LIKE HER at MoCP, followed by a Q & A .
Additional recent screenings include MICA in Baltimore on April 9, and at Northeastern University on March 12, 2014
