Exploring Documentation Design with Lamour Sansone

Faculty and alumni from the Department of Teaching + Learning in Art + Design (TLAD) represented RISD with nine presentations at the 2014 National Art Education Convention held in San Diego last month.

One topic was Exploring the Role of Documentation Design within Art and Design Education, presented by Graduate Program Director Paul Sproll (Professor, TLAD) and Kristina Lamour Sansone (Critic, TLAD). The presentation drew from the Documentation Design Studio offered by Lamour Sansone at the start of TLAD’s Master of Arts in Teaching program. Students in the course use information design processes to create flexible visual communication tools for education. Sproll and Lamour Sansone presented the course curriculum, which emphasizes practical strategies and incorporates curriculum materials, posters, books, video, and digital presentations. The presentation highlighted the convention’s theme of fusing innovative teaching and emerging technologies.
