The RISD Global Classroom: Conversations Among Students and Faculty

Tuesday, February 25th, 7–8:30 pm
Chace Center Auditorium, The RISD Museum

RISD’s mission states, in part: “The mission of Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) is … to make lasting contributions to a global society through critical thinking, scholarship and innovation.” Making Critical: Critical Making, the School’s five-year strategic plan, asks: “How can RISD best educate and support creative agents for a changing world?”

This panel discussion—featuring two RISD faculty members, three current students, and one alum—will explore multiple perspectives, opportunities, and challenges related to RISD’s rich global learning on campus, online, and in the world. Panelists Farah Abdelhamid (J&M ’15), Agustina Bello (Textiles ’13), Eduardo Duarte (Assistant Professor, Intar), Ryan Mather (ID ’15), Mingfei Song (Intar, ’14), and Kevin Zucker (Associate Professor, Painting) will discuss topics including global internship experiences, American academic experiences in a global context, global online education, and the impact of international education on art and design careers.

Audience discussion to follow. Open to the entire RISD community.

Organized by The Writing Center, Global Partners & Programs, and the Office of International Student Services as part of Academic Affairs’ year-long “Mapping Learning” series.
