Boroson Exhibition at MASS MoCA

An exhibition of work by Lee Boroson (Senior Critic, Sculpture) will open at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art next fall. An NEA Art Works grant is supporting the exhibition “Plastic Fantastic,” which will run from October 2014 through August 2015.

Boroson’s work “sprung from a meditation on the outdoors as ‘wild’ or ‘untamed’ and the idea of the landscape as ‘manufactured’,” according to a description of the exhibit. The show will include inflatables, fabric and light to create physical and optical experiences in a four-part installation: The Fog, The Falls, the Crypt and The Lava Field.

“Viewers will move through the components sequentially, culminating in an upper mezzanine level view of the installation, a vantage point from which they can see the first two sections of the landscape resolve as a single image,” museum officials said in a statement released Monday.
