RISD’s Solar Decathlon team received outstanding press coverage from their presentation and visit to the Domaine de Boisbuchet, including a 2-minute feature and interview with Jonathan Knowles (Associate Professor, Architecture) on French television.
The Solar Decathlon competition challenges 20 collegiate teams to design and build sustainable homes that are powered exclusively by solar energy and incorporate sustainable architecture and design. The houses must be comfortable and technologically innovative, as well as affordable and marketable. The competition is a highly visible display of sustainable living practices, promoting renewable energy and environmental responsibility.
Techstyle Haus is a design created in collaboration with students and faculty from Brown University and the University of Applied Sciences in Erfurt, Germany, and is focused on weaving, transformation and playfulness.
