Glass Lecture: Michael Scheiner

Michael Scheiner is a critically acclaimed sculptor working out of Central Falls, Rhode Island. He has received numerous grants for his work including those from the National Endowment for the Arts, The Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation and the Ford foundation. His work has been exhibited internationally and can be found in such collections as the Renwick Gallery of the National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institution; Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art; The Corning Museum of Glass; Carnegie Melon Institute of Art and Bloomberg Headquarters, New York. Mr. Scheiner has worked at the Rhode Island School of Design as an instructor in the glass department and has taught extensively at both Pilchuck Glass School and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. He has also worked as a designer for Dansk International. In the Spring of 2000 he was awarded a Fulbright senior scholar fellowship for research and lecture in Colombia, South America where he taught at the University of the Andes.
