Katharina Galor at Apollonia-Arsuf

Katharina Galor (Lecturer, History of Art and Visual Culture) and a team of engineers have been working for the past two years on a NSF funded ground-breaking documentation of the ongoing excavations at Apollonia-Arsuf. The 2010 Field Season will start in early August. This Crusader Castle was designated one of the 100 most endangered sites by the World Monuments Fund. Galor and her colleagues are using images from digital scanners and cameras to develop a visual archaeological database that grows as the excavation proceeds. The team is also using 3-dimensional visual modeling to virtually reconstruct the site which is more than 80% destroyed. To read more click here
