Mark Pompelia, new Visual Resources Librarian

Mark Pompelia arrived in Providence on June 29 to join the Fleet Library at RISD staff as Visual Resources Librarian. Mark holds a BA from the Ohio State University and a Master of Library Science (MLS) from Kent State University. He comes to RISD from Rice University in Texas where he served as director of  the Visual Resources Center. Prior to that he served as Curator of the Visual Resources Library in the Department of the History of Art at the Ohio State University. Mark has edited the “Visual Resource Association Bulletin” since 2005 and has made numerous presentations around the country on strategies for transitioning to digital collections and how to successfully incorporate digital images into the classroom. Most recently he moderated the College Art Association Conference panel lAcademic Image Collections in Transition: Saving the Baby while Repurposing the Bath-water. Mark is the author/recipient of many grants including grants from the Capital Fund and the Andrew Mellon Foundation. Please welcome Mark as acclimates from his move from Houston.
